Ngc 6744

Took this one at the last new moon. It's quite hard to process, because although it's big it also has a low surface brightness.
Scope: 4" WO APO
Camera: QSI540
Exposure: 25 min each RGB, 45 min L (5 min subs).
Cropped to 47' x 47'

Geez.. Nice work Geoff.. Thats really really good... I've tried many a time to get a shot of 6744 and failed every time..

Must give it another go sometime.. I remain doubtful that I will get something as good as this!!

Well done..

Well done.

Very nice Geoff. A lot of background colour noise. Use Noise Ninja to tame that and move the black point in Photoshop for each of the colour channels to get rid of some it too. Its probably mostly in the green histogram.

Greg.

Geoff,
Greg is right
its a lovely shot, I just tried a quick move of the dark point in PS and slight adjustment onthe histogram and it makes a world of difference
there are lots of ways to do it but you can easity get rid of the noise on this image and let the galaxy pop right out
cheers
frank
