2245 2282 2149 2316 2296

I looked at some more nebulae last night with my 12" Dob.

NGC 2245 was easy, NGC 2247 difficult and IC 447 was visible.
NGC 2282 was very faint, I think I saw it.
NGC 2149 was easy to see.
NGC 2316, near M50, was also easy and interesting.
I saw most of IC 2177 with a UHC filter, it is 2.3 degrees long.
NGC 2296 is faint, I used high power to keep Sirius at bay.
You can see images of these at http://www.sky-map.org/

Confirmed 2282 this morning, it is very faint, better at low power with no filter.

Faint N.G.C Nebulae

According to Andreas Alzner and Ronald Stoyan these are some of the faintest NGC nebulae:

NGC 1333, NGC 1432, NGC 1555, NGC 1985, NGC 2067*, NGC 2149, NGC 2183/5, NGC 2247, NGC 2282,
NGC 2313*, NGC 6526, NGC 6559, NGC 6589/90, NGC 6820, NGC 6974/79, NGC 7635, NGC 7822*
* Are probably the faintest: NGC 2067 is next to M78, NGC 2313 is near NGC 2316 and NGC 7822 is too far north for us.

See http://picasaweb.google.com.au/dunlop1826/NGCNebulae# for images of all the NGC nebulae.

Nebulae and How to Observe Them

This book provides a great guide to observing nebulae:
