NGC 1566 "Deprocessed"

A more natural rendition of this difficult Seyfert galaxy.

Amazing image Steven!

It is very cool to see the dust lanes extending out into space and a couple of faint galaxies in the background.

Great work.

A beauty Steven, very nicely done and the background galaxies set it off wonderfully.

Cheers

i think youd have to really hard push a dslr image to capture that much detail were just trying to keep up with the ccd imagers.

Nice one Steven.
This object is difficult to get detail in both the faint arms and the inner spiral.
Plenty of detail in that.
Well done.

Very nice...especially the detail in the arms, and the background galaxies present in the pic.

That is a fantastic image Steven.
Do you have any images of NGC 1549 and NGC 1553? They are only 12' apart.

Thanks Glen.

I do in fact have an image. Never put it on my webpage as I was never satisfied with the image.

Here it is anyway.

Thanks Steven, you are the first to post an image of those two galaxies that I know of.
James Dunlop saw NGC 1553 but thought that NGC 1549 was a star.
He wrote "A rather bright nebula [1553] about 1’ diameter, very faint at the margin, gradually bright to the centre: a small star north, and another south, both involved in the margin of the nebula. A group of very small stars [including 1549] north"

It's not surprising there are not too many images of this pair. Most ellipticals are bland objects and not worth imaging.
