Here's a nice little face on spiral taken over the weekend. Notice the small satellite galaxy at the end of the top spiral arm. This sort of object looks about the limit (in terms of small size and brightness) that is worth while photgraphing with my current setup. It needs more processing work, but I thought I would put it up now, as I won't have a chance to work on it for a week or so.
Details:
110mm refractor @f7 (William Optics ZS110 apo)
Losmandy GM8, guided with Toucam and PHD.
Canon 350D, unmodified.
6 exposures of 10 min each at 800ISO.
Dark frames.
Aligned and stacked in ImagesPlus, processed in Photoshop.
Good one Geoff,
This one was to be my next object, but I've had a little prob with my gear and that has slowed me down.
That image is not at the limit of your gear -go for it.
Well done.
