Exclamation Update on IceInSpace AstroCamp dates

No IISAC Event in 2012

Due to the Total Solar Eclipse in November 2012, IceInSpace won't be holding an IISAC star party in 2012. The usual date of October is too close to the eclipse, and people will be saving their money and browny points for travelling to the eclipse (including myself!).

However there will likely be hundreds of IceInSpace members converging on Cairns, Port Douglas, Palm Cove and surrounds for the eclipse and there's bound to be local meetups whether it's for observing the eclipse or catching up for social events before or after the eclipse.

Keep an eye on the IceInSpace Forum for details about local meetups as people organise them closer to the event.

IISAC2013

The next IISAC event, IISAC2013, will have a date change and be held earlier in the year, basically for a change of scenery and sky.

The date for IISAC2013 is the 7th - 10th March 2013 (Thu/Fri/Sat nights).

It will again be held at Lostock, in the Hunter Valley of NSW where the previous IISAC events were held. It has given us spectacular dark skies, great amenities and great company.

Keep an eye on the IISAC page later in 2012 as it will be updated with more info about IISAC2013 as the event organisation gets underway!

That date looks good!

It finally coincides with nothing!

I reckon I might be a starter.

We'll make our own fun, John!

Mike - you want to check with 3RF, because I think they are also running an event that same weekend in another location in Coonabarabran (The Deep South Texas Star Party).

Hi Mike,

All of the 3RF team are committed to the DSTSS at Coona that weekend. Consequently we would have no Scopes or volunteers available for ISAAC 2013, if it was held that weekend.

Cheers,
John B

I've started on my brownie points quest for IISAC '13 already. If I manage to bring some of family too I hope to make it for a couple of nights.

Thank you for organising this great event again Iceman!

Tentative date change for IISAC2013:

11th, 12th, 13th April 2013.

I need to double-check the dates to confirm I can book the marquee and houses etc on that date.

School holidays start on the 13th, so hopefully people can bring their families and let their kids miss school on the Thursday or Friday

My younger ones might enjoy coming along.
