moon shots, 14th dec

did these about 2 hours ago (9.30pm).

however, they weren't properly done. i was steadily holding my kodak cx4230 digital camera infront of the eye piece. but considering how crappy my method was, i think the results are fairly pleasing.

enjoy,

cristina

Very cool Cristina. It's not easy getting pleasant hand-held shots. Well done!

i suggest a digiscope from frontier optics for around $69. it clamps to the eyepiece and then you can screw your camera into a stable position

great shots kristiana, ( i told you i was full of it )

Cristina these shots are good, much better than what I achieved when I first tried afocal photography.
It's quite difficult to do it that way and you pulled out some great detail.
In places the camera has overexposed the image a bit.

I'd like to try and adjust the levels on these to try and get some of that detail out, if that's ok with you?

Excellent work cristina, well done!

You should have a read of my Astrophotography with a Dob article - it might give you some hints and tips on how to get the best results with afocal (and later, webcam based) photography with a non-tracking dob.

Hi lateralus and welcome to IIS.

Great shots of the moon with a hand held point and shoot. You should be very pleased with the result!

that's fine by me! i did a bit of a bang up job in photoshop adjusting brightness, contrast, colour levels and variations and all of that. im no wizard with it, but i tried to bring out as much detail as i knew how to.
if you like i could post the originals?
