Moon pic from a noob with his new 10" dob

Rains finally let up here in the Pacific North West. Here's a pic of the moon from my neck of the woods.

Mars will be up shortly. Unfortunately....34 degrees F and 97% humidity is starting to take it's toll. Telrad is already useless...dewed over. And wife is forcing me to eat dinner. Oh well.

Hey togo54!

Nice effort on that 6 1/2 day moon.

Plenty of detail along the terminator. There's Aristoteles, Eudoxus and the Caucasus Mountains in the North...

The theophilus/cyrillus and catharina trio in the centre

and I think Pitiscus and Barocius in the south.

Hi togo54 and to the forum! Always a pleasure to have some northern hemisphere guys join us in the community.

That's a great first shot with a dob. What camera are you using?

Have you read my article about astrophotography with a dob?

Camera was a Sony DSC-P71 held up to a 25mm plossl lens. Tilted/angled the camera until the image was at it brightest in the viewfinder and then snapped the pic. Wife was skepitical about my newest hobby until tonite... I'm affraid a monster has been unleashed...

That's uncanny!

It's almost the exact same set-up I used two days ago to take my first moon pic

Except I'm using the DSC-P73 and an 8 inch scope.

I also used a 25ml plossl ...

and like you, the astro snapping beast has now been unleashed

Hi Togo! Welcome to the land of Oz!

I did notice that your pic of the Moon is backwards to ours. Must be an American "Left-hand Drive" Dob!

<!--StartFragment -->Thanks for the warm welcome from all you nice folks. I hate to sound stupid as I'm a mod in numerous forums not related to astronomy, but what's the trick to adding thumbnail pics to a post?
Thanks in advance.

G'day togo54!

Welcome to the best place downunder.
That's a nice moon shot there mate.

As RAJAH235 said just scroll down to additional options when you reply.
There you will see the Manage attachments button.
From there you can upload your file from your computer to the forum and the thumbnail will be auto generated.

Cheers
