Vela SNR Mosaic Larger Image.

Now I have more on line storage thought I woud put up a larger image from this thread

http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/s...ad.php?t=40803

Large full resolution image 21MB. FOV is 17x11 degrees.

Here isa half sized version 4MB.

This mosaic was all done at f/2.8. I may do it again at f/5 as the stars are tighter and the gradients less severe due to less vignetting at f/5.

Wow Bert, you are the mosaic man.

Just wish I had a monitor big enough to take it all in...wall size!

So how much sanity will you have left after this full sky survey?

wow, what an insane pic, just love the tight as focus, FAR too many stars and swimming around in the 22meg res (sure beats a 2K DSLR image post). Trouble is, theres not much else ?, could do with some more streching yes ?.

This tweak doesnt even come close to doing justice, but the neb can be made to pop out a bit, its all very subjective I guess.

Fred the real problem is gradients at f/2.8 partly due to the vignetting. At f/5 this is far less severe.

I was going to collect narrow band O3 and HA and use this data to enhance the very faint nebula. The weather was not kind while Vela was high.

Here is the central panel showing the Vela SNR with added narrow band. 3.7MB

With better weather will try again next year at f/5for colour and f/3.5for NB.
