It's my night to be Mr Mom, otherwise I'd be making my debut at Ten Chain Hill Peter... My wife is off to a concert with her friends and I'm home with the kids. Don't worry, the scopes are setup in the backyard!

Have a blast!

Beware the Ides of March - well almost

Well folks, March is here.

Skippy Sky is working off data that is 2 days old at the moment so predictions out to Friday/Saturday are a bit "iffy". But the forecast for both Friday and Saturday is lousy.

7-Timer says we'll have overcast Friday and they're not showing Saturday yet.

BOM says for Friday:

"Showers and storms possible throughout the rest of Queensland, though more active and widespread about the southern districts. Showers and storms also spreading out to rain areas overnight in the southern districts. A late southerly wind change about the southeast coast"

And for Saturday:

"The southerly wind change should spread rapidly towards the central coast during the day, though it should produce active showers and storms ahead of it as it travels over the Wide Bay, Capricornia and Central Highlands districts. Cooler with mainly coastal showers behind the change over the southeast districts."

That suggests a clearing and cooling change coming through from the SE on Saturday.

I think it will just have to be left to the Gods of wind and water to decide and the rest of us to wait for the augeries on Saturday morning.

Wanna bet?

TenChain is a boggy mess again folks. You'd need a hovercraft to get past the front gate.

March is yet another washout. Let's try now for April.

Peter.

With all the money we have collectively invested in astrogear, a hover-craft would be a "mere drop in the well"!

Pity about the clouds...

Thanks again for your ongoing offer of hospitality Peter - I'll get there one day...

I sure did. And now that the unveiling ceremony for this weekend has been canceled, I will unveil it myself. I must say that May and September do seem 'familiar'. What a great job the AAQ do with these calendars.
Thank you for the generous thought and gesture.

My pleasure Peter, sad to think if this weather goes on any longer we may have to resort to looking through the calendar in order to get our Astro fix

Hopefully....see you in April

Sigh. I think May last year was the last time I could really let rip under clear dark skies. Even Astrofest was a bit frustrating in 2010.

The only way is up!........

Well folks, it's that time again. New moon the coming weekend and there does seem to be a reasonable prospect of some clear skies (according to Skippy). I know a lot can happen etc etc, but live in hope, I say. Forever the optimist.
I think that SEQAS or one of the other astro Clubs may be at Hazeldean that weekend also and anyone headed that way is welcome to drop by to have a chat and say hello.

cheers all.
Peter

Hopefully see you as planned later, but will be in touch.

Enjoy good company and maybe some clear skies, else some water of life.
