HDR Corona from the 14 Nov 2012 TSE data sets - 1st attempt

This is my first attempt to HDR my total solar eclipse photos. It's a combination of 11 different exposures center around mid-eclipse.

Always been dreaming to get this kind of shot, and the recent TSE gave me good sets of data to play around with.

Processed with Fitswork and Photoshop.

Spectacular! My only comment is that the inner corona seems a bit bright...

Thank Geoff. Yes, it was kinda bright. Probably the last few exposure sets, all are overexposure in the inner corona, but showing the outer corona just fine.

Maybe I need to do masking first on the original TIF files, before combining it in Fitswork?

Nice work, Shah! The corona is a very tricky target.

Thanks Gary,

12 Nov - 2 days before eclipse, we drove from Cairns, and stopping at Port Douglas and Palm Cove.

13 Nov Noon- 1 day before eclipse, we drove again up to Ellis Beach, Wanggeti Beach and again stopping at Palm Cove.

by 2 PM, on the 13th, we decided to go to either Ellis Beach and Palm Cove, camp overnight.

by 5 PM, we decided to go to Mareeba (after evaluating the weather news on TV).

So, Mareeba is was!

Hi Shah,

Very good and it was a wise decision to get a away from the coast, but not all
were that lucky. Some of the ASNSW folk such as Don Whiteman reported
no luck at Julatten.

Wouldn't be surprised if we drove past each other without knowing it at times!
We stayed on the Palm Cove headland overlooking Ellis Beach but did go up and
down the Bruce Hwy a few times as far as Cape Tribulation. As posted elsewhere,
we ended up on the Mulligan Hwy the afternoon before the eclipse.

Did you have to trek back to Sydney to fly to KL or were you able to fly
there direct from Cairns?

Oh yes, not all inland are free from clouds. We were extremely lucky.

I wouldn't be surprise if we criss-crossed each other during the days leading to the eclipse! I wish I got your mobile number, else we could've meet somewhere. I got Lachlan's so we did text a few time, but ended up meeting at Coona!

My flight from KL landed in Brisbane (no direct flight unfortunately). So I have to take Jetstar form Brisbane to Cairns.

But I was all over the place after that. From Cairns, I flew to Sydney for 2 days, before driving up to Coona for the Post Eclipse Star Safari with Lachlan. Spent 3 nights there before driving back to Sydney and stayed another 2 days, trying to complete our tour.. but 4 days is not enough! The final 3 days I was at Gold Coast, before flying back to KL last Sunday.

A hectic 2 weeks, but worth every minute of it!
