Concept Shoot - I

First from a conceptual series.

The original concept that I had in mind was a macaw-inspired shoot, featuring reds, greens, blues and yellows. However, I called upon input from all involved, and, working as a team, the ladies took my concept somewhere else entirely that I couldn't have imagined in my little noggin'.

We all had a lot of fun and I can't wait to (hopefully) work with these wonderful ladies again.

Slightly larger version here.

Canon EOS-5D Mark III, Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM, and a bunch of Profoto gear
1/125s f/16.0 @ 105.0mm iso100

Outstanding shot H, very sharp and looks like you've nailed the lighting. Interesting concept indeed

Thanks, Adam.

There's a few more in the series I'm yet to work on. We shot two looks in the one day. The model saw the image this morning and was ecstatic. She can't wait to see the rest.

The lighting is always the difficult part, but, also the fun part.

This was all shot with one light. Next time, I'll try a two light setup, then three or four lights.

Great result Humayun. The lighting is fantastic. I really dislike the eye feathers, I personally think that they aren't necessary, but I guess that it's her concept. Should be very interesting to see what happens with more light sources deployed.

I told the girls in my initial email to turn her into a bird. Hence the feathers.

Ah.... er.. OK. So you're the bird man, not her. I'll wait until I see some others then...

Next time, the concept will be entirely different.

I'll come up with something.

Thanks, mate!

A lot of work goes into producing concept work; we started at 8:30 AM and finished up somewhere close to 4 PM.

The first image was just a test shot straight out of camera -- it had no processing done on it at all. This one's a little more vibrant, due to processing.

The lighting... well, you get what you pay for. I'll be poor forever, but, can you see the smile on my face? Damn us for having expensive hobbies and professions!

More to come, soon.
