Wind turbines and Hybrid power

Guys,
Anyone know whets going on with wind turbines? 3 or so companies I've tried dont do them or have closed up whats the reason? Are there any places that do wind turbines in NSW? Im thinking of wind/solar grid connected.

Last time I looked at this, you can't grid connect wind power in Qld. That was a couple of years ago. May have changed.
I backed away anyway after I looked into it a bit. Even though we're in what I would call and exposed and windy location up here, the speed of the wind was just not enough to warrant the investment. I installed a weather monitor station that recorded wind speeds, directions etc for a year and then had a look at the startup speed most turbines seem to need to get going and my reading of the data was that we were just marginal at best.
The wind speedos usually quoted in metres per second (9 mps or so was not unusual for many brands of turbine) and that works out to be close to 32 km/h. That a fair sort of blow and to generate meaningful power, you need that blowing more often than not.
Anyway, that's why I backed away.

I tried Energy Matters but they dont to anything in turbines, the company they sent me to didnt either, the company they sent me to is not returning email

Ill probably give this a go, there was a company that came out and tested the site but their email is bouncing, I can only think were/are some cowboys out there....

There's an excellent vertical axis turbine going cheap on ebay, it needs a controller and dump load to complete the package, I have been contemplating buying it, but getting the necessary council approval in my area would likely be problematic.

Here is a supplier I looked at

I live in a windy place and have 3 neighbours with wind turbines.
I decided against a turbine because I would have had to run about 600m of cable and this was prohibitively expensive
Compared to the cost of the turbine.

Wind generators work great, Why not put it up yourself and just get a local sparky to connect it.

Put it up ,myself? no I need a full sustem integrated with solar if its going to work. That I'd rather leave to the experts, plus with fencing , sheds and dam repairs I wont have time.

Watch out for VAWT's there is a lot of hyp, but few really deliver anything close to the same size bladed turbine.
