Alex, if all else fails, make up a pinhole projector. See Tip 3.

Looks like the Stardome planetarium at One Tree Hill has some viewers for sale, and have an open day for the eclipse.

I'm sure someone in the big smoke will answer your MayDay, but also try a post on NZ Astronomers Yahoo site. There are quite a few in Auckland, and I read today that the Auckland Observatory will be open, that's where the Stardome is, near One Tree Hill.
If all else fails you are more than welcome to watch with me, rural Hamilton.

Ah, but the coffee is excellent. Stardome will be the place anyway, plenty of people there too I suspect.

The inside of an old floppy disk will work fine too.

Posting an urgent request at 8 pm the night before doesn't give much chance to reply or offer options. I took my small scope in to work and did Outreach not far from you. Within walking distance.
Hope you got to the Observatory and enjoyed the view. There are no scope specialised shops in NZ, only camera focussed with scopes etc additional.
