1K Star Parties: Where are they being held?

OK...who's up for it?

We have 974 members to date, so with a bit of luck and some promotion from everyone, we might hit the 1K members by the end of the month or early next month.

Where are the parties going to be at? I think I can safely say the our great host Ron will have his observing field available on Saturday the 27th of May. and it's a new moon on that night Brisveganites and Coastalites will be made more than welcome.

So who's coming and who else is holding a get together to celebrate out collective milestone.

Cambroon Mob
Astroron
[1ponders]
Gargoyle_Steve
Drmorbius
Nightshift?

Kulnura (See thread here)
Iceman
Rocket Boy
Octane
Rodstar
Nightsky
jakob

Any others places? attendees?

I'm quite sure there'll be another meet at Kulnura on the 27th.. I haven't heard that Froggy has got a new job yet, so I assume he's still there. I'll give him a call and confirm.

A good idea to have simultaneous star parties, to mark the 1000 mark Today was a big day, lots of new members today.. we might hit the 1000 earlier than I predicted!

Great idea Paul!! Would be nice to think that as many IIS'ers as possible could be gathering for the same night even if in different areas. The sky we all stand under IS the same after all
(clouds don't count, they're local! lol)

In terms of the SE Qld contingent meeting I'm already working on swapping 3 shifts to have the weekend off to visit Ron at his welcoming homestead.

Hey GS, there is an observatory in the Arts Center precinct, opposite the museum and botanical gardens in Christchurch. Its a very old observatory and they have open nights there.

I'm booked into a mystery adventure weekend on the 27th/28th.

All I know is we are travelling within a 300 or so k radius, camping, and a trivia competition based around the movie "The Dish", Ben Hall, general knowledge and something else that presently escapes me...

Using my dodgey powers of deduction I think we'll be heading towards Canowindra and Parkes so I'm seriously considering taking the scope with me!

Al.

I thought someone would mention the candles, you can always use those multicoloured granules called hundreds and thousands? which they put on Birthday andChristmas cakes.

I agree with Paul... IIS members should take the opportunity to celebrate and unite with star parties across Australia, take some photos and send them in for all to enjoy

I'll be at Cambroon... C'mon y'all... we's family

par-ty! par-ty! par-ty!

Good on ya Randall, glad to see you'll be coming along again! Will you have any of the "Morbius - the Next Generation" along again?

Even if it's a small gathering (5 of us so far including my brother Don as usual) we'll have a great time at Ron's - quality people, even if not much quantity.

Looking forward to it (and I have a new digital camera to play with too) so we'll see you all there!
Steve

Not sure about kids this time... they loved looking through the scopes, but don't like to stay up late.

So it'll probably be just me this time so I can stick around a bit longer. I reckon I'll have to wait in the queue to have a look through Dennis' new red scope!
