Hi all
last week I took 2 x 15 minute ISO 200 shots of the Eta carina Nebula with the recoated 10 inch. One of the 2 shots had a tiny bit of guide error, so I wasnt in a hurry to process them, but upon doing so I was pleasantly surprised to see the stars look ok. I think this is about the deepest ive ever taken of Eta carina, 30 mins total imaging time with the modded 350D ,UHCS, and MPCC in place with 10 inch F5.6 scope. Dark subtracted in IRIS, no flats or offsets, slight vignetting taken care of with vignetting remover instead.

That is a very nice result Scott.To use your words pinpoint stars etc. The contrast in the delicate nebulosity is astounding! More exposures of this quality would raise the signal to noise. Autoguiding is the go.

The web server where I upload the full size images to apparently does some compressing of their own, as no matter how high the jpeg compression, the uploaded version always seems to show signs of more jpeg compression. I also used noiseware to a slight extent.
Heres a full res, low compression shot of the original, without using Noiseware.

That is a beautiful image of my favourite region of the sky. The full size image is well worth a look, it left me gob smacked at the quality of the image; the round stars, the processing, the depth and the sheer beauty of what you have achieved.
Scott /Humayun..where do you get the vignetting removal plug in ????

Not sure, mate. I just stick to doing flat fields and don't rely on noise reduction, gradient removal (except in IRIS, and very rarely used), or vignette removal.
Tony (Itchy) uses another one called ABE, but I think that may be for gradient removal only.

Takes a bit of playing with to get just right but seems to work well for me, I seem to get a little less vignetting since my mirror was recoated too.
