Jupiter oct27UT - improved processing and animation

Apology for a repro of previously posted data, but found a slightly better RGB image from the 27th and put together an animation of some luminance data, showing how fleeting the period of relatively good seeing was. The third image comes from Dec last year - included for interest to show the similarity in the turbulence regions around the GRS.
Thanks for looking. Regards Ray

Very good result Ray, and thanks especially for posting the animation. Very interesting to see the detail pop out in one of those 4 frames.

The difference in banding and features year on year is fascinating. People sometimes wonder why we persist in continually imaging these planets. Haven't we got enough Jupiter images?

Well here is the answer - you need to persist to nab that ideal seeing, and Mars, Saturn and Jupiter all change almost daily.

Ripper images Ray - like the frame comparisons in the animation - really does show the variable seeing conditions. Also very interesting to see the difference around the GRS from last year. Cheers

thanks Ivan. Yes, it sure is an addictive hobby and real fun when it goes reasonably well

Very nice reprocess Ray. Really must have been exceptional seeing considering the 30 degrees alt. Any calls on the seeing?

EDIT: I just remembered you used your ADC for this set. How much do you think the unit contributed to the data quality?

seeing was maybe 7 - detail was there, but accompanied by some relatively slow tearing distortion at medium scales. AS!2 handled it well. Attached blue frames (30% stack) show outcomes with and without ADC - ten minutes apart. The ADC seems to have tidied it up a worthwhile amount (dispersion is almost vertically aligned in these images). Every bit helps

thanks very much Mike. still find it difficult to get the best balance between noise and colour saturation, but will keep trying.

Thanks for that. The ADC has cleaned up the data rather well.

Nice repro Ray, a great result for any conditions let alone the horrendous conditions and low alt we have had to deal with.

Top Shelf.

Thanks Trevor. Also found an earlier (lower quality) one that shows a few of the spots in the NEB that were the subject of a recent BAA notice.
