HMAS Canberra

While we wait for her to be prepped for floating I've had along with the rest of Geelong the opportunity to get a few happy snaps.
Hope you like them. I think it'll be floated in the middle of Port Phillip bay in one of the deep channels as I think the carrier ship needs something like twenty meters of water to submerge deep enough to float the Canberra.

Cheers.

Thanks Laurie.

Yes it's a biggie all right, the couple of shots showing the strange looking tyre clad objects on the back of the trucks are I believe oversize versions of what you would normally see along the side of your boat to protect it from damage against the dock well my guess anyway.

Wow that 3rd shot really gives you a sense of the scale of her. BUT how big is the ship carrying her?! I didn't think that sort of thing was possible

If you had all the helos it can carry on the deck at one time, there'd be our entire fleet air arm!

Yet another Australian outsourcing... this hull was made in Spain. Can'tthe Fremantle works do this sort of thing?
