Solar mosaic 19 October

Well it took a little while to process this data, but it is finally here.

The seeing was a bit erratic but I am quite happy with the look of the proms and the extra resolution has certainly made a difference to the look I can achieve with this new scope.

Critique welcome

Stunning image Paul, I just spent the last 15mins staring at every inch of it, so much detail. Love your work! The way the spicules follow erratic magnetic lines is fascinating to see. Sorry I have no critique to help you improve it.

Very tidy image

P.S.
Went with your suggestion, and am now running a 256Gig SSD for capture. Works a treat.

Hi Paul
Very nicely done, good detail and range of capture across proms and surface.

Thanks guys, really appreciate your comments. I am very happy with the scope and the results speak volumes

Derek, yes it was a trial but that is all forgotten now. Some time soon I will be doing a review.

Ah that is great. I put my drive in laptop in the second port and that works at the same speed as the having it in an external enclosure and using the esata port. So if you have the room do that. It makes it easier to cart stuff around.

The grasshopper express is working wonders as well by the look of it.

How is the noise on the camera? I've been wondering whether adding active cooling might be worth the effort?

Paul,
Amazing mosaic, very sharp and homogenous. I also like very much the color pallet you use. I am glad that you are enjoying your new scope.

Great job,

Fernando

Wouldn't bother with active cooling. The camera exhibits very low noise levels even at high temps.

Good work Paul, nice details coming through and your full disk shots have definitely gone up a notch with the new scope. The variable seeing is always going to cause issues with mosaics.
