Gardner's Falls pano

Another Sunday outing effort. Set up my tripod on the loose stone in the shallow water opposite the falls to take the 13 odd shots for this. 450D and 28mm Takamur k-mount prime. 1/4" exposure, approx F/14 from memory. Cropped into a wide pano as the upper portions showing sky fairly overexposed, but also to size for use as a desktop background for a while.

Thanks for that Laurie.
I finally went and bought a decent manfrotto tripod recently. Had a friend also looking so we went off together to hunt. This was "first light", if tripods have such a thing.

Nice shot Rob, Gardener's Falls is a lovely spot. Next time we get some decent rain head on up to Nambour to Lady Mary Celento Park. There's a fantastic waterfall there and hardly anyone seems to know about it.

Thanks Mike - the kids were playing up the top of the falls further along - climbing around in the shallows poking with sticks and generally worrying their Mum until we left. It is a pretty spot.

Thanks Paul - I'm don't know about that one - will have to check it out next time we're staying on the coast. Nambour is one of those places where the odd shower is a pretty regular occurence as I recall

G'day Adam - glad to see you're still hanging about. Hope to catch up at Peter's in the New Year sometime. I see you've acquired a nice 5D MkII in recent times.

It's a Manfrotto 290 series (MT294A3, with 496RC2 ball head). Not only is it a million times more stable and easier to set up a pic than my old $25 dollar busted cheapie, but with DSLR on top and legs fully extended and locked, makes a decent pole to help navigate across shallow flooded creeks, as was required to get to this spot

The old tripod had one leg clamp was held together with cable ties - was getting so bad that last time I was at Leyburn with it shooting long exposures, was worried if I could hear the thump of it all coming down all night long

Yes it it nice to have a decent tripod. I bought one of manfrottos 055cxpro3 tripods a while back, but I think that will appear in the for sale column shortly. It is very nice to use, but I think I would prefer something a bit heavier....strangely enough...

Easy to find Rob. Its at the end of Waterfall Road (funny that) which is directly opposite the carpark for the Nambour Hospital off Nambour Mapleton Road

Carbon fibre wasn't on the shopping list for me, but interesting to hear that. I don't think I'd like to be lugging mine too far cross country mind you

Thanks Rick. Worked out well for a bit of family therapy. Thought I was going to cop it for not getting to beach, but ice cream and a play in the stream can do wonders!
