Helix Nebula

Hi all.
at about 4 am Friday morning I got off 2x10 min shot of the Helix Nebula. ISO 1600, UHCS and uv/ir filter, 10 inch F5.6 scope. Modded 350D
The Northeast Arc is just visible out from bottom of the Helix. When it gets higher in next few months I will see about doing a full hour's imaging on it or more.

Brilliant image Scott, can hardly wait for the longer exposure, detail in it looks massive.

Fantastic Scott, yes I agree can't wait to see it with more exposure.
Great work in capturing the Northeast Arc too.

Hi Scott

Brilliant as usual. The north east arc is something I could never get. Well Done.

Cheers

Yes, very nice image of the Helix Scott!

I hope to obtain a 12" F3.8 astrograph this year (42mm corrected image circle!) and while the resolution is not quite as good as a dedicated cooled monochrome camera, the convenience of one shot colour is VERY attractive to me, so I am contemplating getting a Cannon DSLR at some stage too!

Crickey the Helix, you are staying up late! Got the bug with that new mirror huh, & waiting for the moon to abate.
Lovely shot. Nice colour! Bit too much post smoothing IMHO though, but I always say that!
Cheers

Howdy. Thanks.
It wasnt near the zenith at the time, in another month it should be at the zenith before dawn starts, I will endevour to do at least an hour or more imaging on it. I think Im gonna have to start doing one object a night and go for bringing out the faint details rather then quantity of objects

I was nearly falling asleep at the eyepiece too, next time I wont do any imaging the night before, but will have a good nights sleep early then get up at 3 am for the helix
