Newton, after the greatest of them all, Isaac, English 17thC genius. The one thing about this crater is its obscurity. Surely there could be a swap with a more prominent crater to let the big fella get some air time!
Short, after James,18thC Scottish optician and telescope maker whose telescopes were and are still, legendary in their quality and innovation. Short had the world record for largest scope (19.5" reflector) for a while in the 1750's.
