pristine clear skies in Newcastle tonight! Cold setting in and an inversion layer, very very slight breeze. I hope we don't get a foggy morning in Wallsend. I will be getting up at 3.30 to image the comet 73P SW, so to beat 1ponders to the punch, well who else is up for it?

got a new gadget today too, a ZIGVIEW digital angled viewfinder! will be tryingthat one on the canon in the morning.

I went out at 3am to look but we had heavy fog.Looked again later and still had heavy fog,looked out there 5 minutes ago,we still had heavy fog. Looks like I was fogged.

I expect you to start a new thread on this one h0ughy.

The add says for Digital cameras. Why wouldn't it work with film slr? It would be fantastic if it did.

Now back to the comet.......

it does work for normal SLRs Paul, a review will be forthright in the next few days

fog went, wasnt there at 3.30 when I got up. Very wet underfoot and around.

I decided to go the 50mm route, so I mounted the canon with standard lens on the eq6, because I didnt polar align all that well I only did 1 mnute shots. nOw forthe life of me I cannot find my card reader?

BUt what I can say was the spectacular meteor display! It was awesome and actually lit up the ground several times streaming from over head. I counted at least 26 until I went back to bed at 5.15. Venus rose with a brilliant shine and I saw several satellites. the central core of the milky way was magnificent. But I found the comet very hard to find and lost it several times in the light polluted backdrop

so I tried, tomorrow I will mount the scope.

OK here is a mini review.

I was bitterly dissapointed in the performance of this unit. the packaging and the potential of this unit is indeed a dream, however so far I am far from impressed. If you buy this for deepsky forget it. it would however be suited for lunar and planetary work with any SLR. terrestrial use is excellent during daylit hours but the sensor is lacking in the lux department. I have yet to fully play with this unit but my initial impressions of it are not good. Especially also due to its cost. I would have had more fun running through a set of tyres with a burnout wiht the same end result, nothing!
