How I spent last Sunday

Quite a busy day, we were on a joint hazard reduction exercise.

One of the tasks was to get rid of a large pile of green waste that had been building up over a number of years following the construction of a golf course

I slept well that night.

Yes it is me under all that gear

Cheers

Hi David

Unfortunately after two wet summers, a lot of growth and a prediction of a hot summer, I think it's going to be a busy one this year.

That's hard yakka Ric, my hat off also.
I spent some time fighting the fires around your area in 1985-87 when I was in the AFP and ACTLRC and I hate the heat.

I can still remember full grown gumtrees explode in the heat with only a stump left.

Cheers guys

This photo was taken by the Brigade President.

It can be a very hot and thirsty job at times, I think I drank about 6 litres that day which probably wasn't enough.

Hi Matt, yep 85 was the last big fires to go through Wamboin. I think that Wamboin was still part of the Sutton brigade back then.

Cheers

Hi Ric,

Thankfully we have a very light shower of rain here in northern Sydney as I write,
but judging by the conditions here in the adjoining national park after coming out of
two years of La Nina to now very dry and warm El Nino, it is going to be a challenging season.

I can smell the smoke right now from what I assume was from fire up on the Central
Coast that started yesterday near Pretty Beach. I heard a news report they were
investigating whether it had been caused by some recreational boat users who had come
ashore the previous night, lit an open fire on the beach but had failed to properly
extinguish it.

Thanks for the job you all do and go safe!

Cheers Gary

Here is the latest update for Pretty and Lobster Beaches.

It looks like the crews are starting to get the upper hand, the cool conditions at present will no doubt help.
