Jupiter this morning (24/2)

Well, I got exactly *one* good run this morning... more cloud and heavy dew making things a bit awkward. Sky was clear at midnight, set clock for 2.45am, discover sky totally clouded in ... grr.

Found a brief gap in the clouds at about 5am, then it came over again and just stayed till sunrise. I think this weather system to our south is bad news.

So here's the image.. missed the GRS transiting, but I caught it before it disappeared. Also nabbed Europa and was pleased to see that it shows a discernable phase if you look carefully.

grabbed 800 frames in RGB, stacked about 400 of each. 10" f/6 newt, 4x TV powermate, RGB filters, fire-i camera @ 25fps.

Sleepy time now :-)

regards, Bird

Beautiful Bird, I actually found out it's Europa, not Io.

That is superb bird, well worth setting the alarm for. The grs and cloud detail look spot on. I've a long way to go before i capture a pic like that. Better get to it

I can sympathise rumples - I have a bad back too, and have to be careful what I do and how I do it :-)

I've taken up swimming again in the last 12 months and that helps a lot.
