The Moon and Jupiter Conjunction

Hi all,
I actually forgot about this close conjunction until when I went outside in the morning to pack away my timelapse gear (trying to capture Perseid meteors) and I noticed how close they were together.
I quickly setup the mount (no alignment- just plonked it down) and telescope and started snapping some images. Getting the Moon and a planet in the same telescope field of view has been a goal of mine ever since I first got the scope.

I love images like this....gives some real sense of scale to our solar system.

I did something similar some years ago but like your rendition better.

Nicely done

Thats an awesome capture Peter I would have loved to get as much detail in Jupiter as you managed but I know my DSLR/Telescope combo isn't a great planetary setup. I tried to stack a few frames together but couldn't salvage much due to the poor alignment and seeing conditions. I just chose the sharpest single frame and went with it.
