SkySafari Lite (iOS) free for limited time

Hi All,

I just noticed today that SkySafari (the basic version) for IPad is free until the 28th July.

Cheers,

Michael

Thanks for the heads up Michael.

Get it while it's free everyone - it's the best of its kind on iOS without a doubt.

If anyone gets this program and is thinking of upgrading to the full versions, without a doubt it is the best program to use as a goto database for your mount. Only thing is you need to buy a sky wire for connectivity but once you all connected the interface is perfect for people who don't really know the night sky all that well. I live it!

Well spotted Michael

I had heard of SkySafari before but never bothered with it because I only have an iPod touch and thought "just a gimmick"
Downloaded it today and wow, magnificent. Its perfect for my needs.
I will now download SkySafari 3 Plus. I reckon it's well worth the $15

Not sure if the lite/free version supports GOTO. Thought it was only the Plus or Pro versions?

According to their website only Pro and Plus support telescope control.

Cheers,

M

It's a common misconception, and I wonder how many astronomers have thought the same and simply not bothered to give it a try. Glad to see you on board

I know. The lite version doesnt support goto, to be clearer I should have said if you like the lite version have no fear the full versions are great for goto with your mounts.

Exactly Chis, I think from memory I bought the Pro version while it was on special, I think it was from a heads-up from here.

Love it, so handy.

Yeah I did the same thing. Cant remember how much I paid for the pro version but money well spent. I love the double star database and the ability to have endless amount of information at your finger tips on the objects you want to goto.

After trying the free version and loving it, I decided to buy the Plus version for $15.
When I tried to download it, they told me I had already purchased it
Checked the ipod and sure enough, it was the plus version that was free, complete with telescope controls (not that I need that feature)
What a bonus
