Kangaroo Nebula?

Hello All

With new scope in a new country and now with a new camera I was wondering (well my partner brought it up in fact) where; if at all possible can one find the Kangaroo nebula? May be a daft question but since we're just becoming acquainted with the southern sky we thought it may be something readily visible downunder. Perhaps its some bizzare infrared object? If anyone can shed some light we would be grateful. We have already enjoyed seeing so many new clusters and nebula it's simply been an amazing experience over the last week especially now the moon is waning. No doubt about it, your Omega Centauri is far more impressive than old M13. It's really fun thogh a little confusing seeing many constellations and the moon for that matter; upside down.

I think I've already found my answer at UNSW. I guess my question is a little daft from an amateur imaging point of view from the looks of things. Perhaps someone in this group has imaged this target other than the professionals?

Hi Darren

Welcome to Aus and to IIS.

Yep, I think we will leave this one to the professionals. It is an infrared "clump" that is hidden deep inside the Keyhole Nebula (Eta Carina), behind all the visual stuff.
Well beyond my capabilities, that's for sure

Cheers
