Hi everyone,
After spending what seemed like ages trying to get my new QHY10 to work correctly and clear skies, i finally was able to produce my first image.

Taken from my heavily light polluted backyard and 3/4 moon. 1 hours worth of data using a LP filter.

Any advice/criticisim would great because im a super newbie.

Thanks for looking

breathtaking detail in those clouds.
cool job and congrats on getting your gear to do what you want!

why is it so orange?
is that what the LP filter does? or was it your choice in post processing?

I liked it. Good field, color and details. it will suit better in larger scale, more than 1160 pixels. If it was your first, imagine how will be the next !

Thanks guys

Can't wait to get some clear weather for more imaging.

As for very orange? I'm not sure mate I sort of just left what nebulosity set for post processing. The image looks a lot better in full res.

No the LP filter makes everything greenish but then you can use Neb to color balance it out.

Cheers guys

Hi Jason,

A very good shot for a first attempt with moon and light pollution.

Some great photos to follow, I am sure.

Good luck.

Ross.

Looks very nice. Interestingly you got the same orange colour I did with a DSLR a few days ago, yet a lot of the images here tend more towards a purple colour...

One thing I notice is the dark areas of the left half of the image have a green bias and the right side have a more purple (natural would be a better word actually) bias.

All in all a fantastic pic.
