Last night Paul Haese invited me to do some narrowband from his dark site. After work I packed up my stuff and started the drive down. I got about 50 minutes into the trip and realized that I left my laptop at home and would have to go back for it. On the way back I got a puncture in one of my tires. Around this time I conceded to the astro gods that I wasn't going to get down there.
Instead I decided that I wasn't going to let this get me down and took some hydrogen alpha from my house.
This is 3 hours of 20 minute subs taken with my 8 inch F4 Newtonian on my heq5 pro. I had the QHY9 cooled to -35 (dam it was cold last night).
Well I can sure relate to forgetting things on the way to Paul's place. Very nice image. There's a bit of white speckling on the hi res version. Is it fully calibrated?
Nice effort, you missed a very cold night down the house you guys. Probably not a night for standing around outside. It got down to 1.5 degrees.
I reckon with this data you can crank up the contrast though. It looks a little flat to me. Guiding looks good but a field flattener is probably needed. Glad you got some data despite the little set backs. Getting flat tyres is not much fun.
Thanks everyone, im slowly progressing. I think most of the field curvature is due to some collimation error. I have processed the data again with more contrast, however im not sure which one i like better.
Here is the new one for those who want a look.
Also included is a photo I took on the 26th of September last year.
