Saturn & Jupiter July 4th & 5th

Hi All,

Imaged Saturn July 4th in the early evening have attached 1 RGB.

Imaged Jupiter the following morning (July 4th) in variable seeing, mostly poor.

Have attached 1 RGB & 807nm IR data set.
The low res RGB still reveals the the thin reddish band in the EZ, the NEB is wide and chaotic with some dark features toward the following limb. As Damian previously mentioned, the SEB is clearly darker than the NEB and this is apparent in both RGB & IR data. The IR reveals more detail & structure than the RGB including a line of tiny white spots along the Northern edge of the SEB.

Imaged Saturn early in the evening of July 5th in quite fast seeing that never really achieved the quality predicted by the weather models. Have attached 1 RGB.

Imaged Jupiter this morning July 5th, mostly in poor seeing but did get some fairly hi res data, for only 24 degrees alt, just before Sunrise.

Have attached 1 RGB & 807nm IR data sets, the RGB & 807nm IR data is relatively hi res and from it I note a very bright spot in the SEB that appears to be in contact with the preceding edge of the GRS. The GRS itself is very pale.

There are three very dark, almost black features spaced along the Southern edge of the NEB and there appears to be a line of small dark spots along the Northern edge of the NTB from the CM back toward the following limb.

Have also attached an 807nm IR animation that really demonstrates how the seeing improved as Jupiter rose.
The SEB remains clearly darker than the NEB

Wow, the shots people are getting of Saturn these days are just amazing. Also love the animated Jupiter.

The dark spots on Jupiter are quite striking - I will be interested to see their development - I do not recall seeing them in previous images.
I must say that the Saturn images are super - the detail is great and the shadow of the rings on the disc is cool!

Thanks very much Chris, my run of good weather is coming to an end, it looks good for July 6th but pretty crook from there on for a while.
