Full Moon Eta.

Desperate is the word!!

The weather has been lousy for a while now, so imaged eta knowing I would at least get something!

I stuck to one minute exposures so not to saturate with moon light.

Telescope 8" f/4 astrograph on a HEQ Pro 5 mount, orion mini guider.
Unmodded Canon 1100D at ISO 800.
55 x 60 sec subs ISO 800.
11 dark frames, 11 flat frames and 11 bias.
Stacked in DSS and post process in Phototshop.
Cheers,

Justin.

Hi Justin,

I know your desperation!

Photo looks really good.

Colours very nice, especially considering the moon light.

I am still amazed at the great tracking and stars you get with an 8" on an HEQ5.

Ross.

Hi Ross,

Thanks for the comments.

The tracking is good for the HEQ pro 5 mount, especially with the orion mini guider. My main advantage is that it's setup in the obsevatory so no realignment needed.

There is a neat trick in photo shop for cleaning up stars, I use the median noise filter set to one pixel. Then gausian blur and unshrp mask, this makes the stars a little tighter.

Cheers,

Justin.

Thanks Louie, Mike and Scott.

I'm slowly learning not to kill the image in moon light conditions.

Cheers,

Justin.

Nice one Justin. I think that would rate as a very good Eta picture even if the full moon wasn't there.

Cheers

Thanks Steve,

I find Eta so complex to process, so many variations!

Cheers,

Justin.
