Hi Houghy
Louie ( Atalas ) had one a while back and I was very impresed but now that the goto is available I would go for it ( HEQ5 - Pro ) which I think is the same thing but has skyscan , good mount .
BTW what has happened to Louie , havent heard from him in a while.

I can only speak for myself, I emailed Louie, and his back was not very good but he was in the land of the living (that was a month or so ago). He was going to keep the C11 etc that he has but I noticed on Astromart that he is vertially selling the lot, i would say to get something smaller and lighter. As for being on the forum, I cant say but i haven't seen a post for a long time.

on topic, I am only interested in looking at another alternative, to look around while the eq6 and scope/camera setup is taking images, just something to plonk a ed100 or a ed80 into

Have you thought about an alt-az mount , I use a Giro 2 Delux mount for the Borg 5" for visual stuff , very nice for scaning around the milkyway with the BinoVue and is smooth enough for high power . It will handle up to 17 KGs

I do like the buzz click goto scenario! But a push to might be acceptable

There is a review of the HEQ5-Pro mount on this site
http://www.iceinspace.com.au/index.p...44,288,0,0,1,0
as well as shots of its guiding capabilities

A new controller is due for the HEQ5 goto in the next 2 months. Bintel sells the same mount under the Orion "Sirius" name at a similar advertised price to Andrews.
