Baylonian and Egyptian foke lore!

Would anyone have information or a book that I can get a hold of on Babylonian or Egyptian foke lore on astronomy? Does any one know what month the acient Egyptians started ther calendar? I hear they look for the star Sirus at the time the Nile river flooded. Hope some one can help. Michael, Warrnambool, Victoria

You obviously mean the Nile River of course, Neil wasn't born then Boom boom ...
Ok, corny jokes aside.

Does google or Wikipedia turn up any results ? That's where I'd start.
Stellarium can show the Egyptian Constellations and has a wee write up on it.

Cheers

Also try The Gutenberg Project they have a vast resource of books in digital format

I did get a wealth of information off Wikipedia and had good results about Sirius the dog star. It was this star that started their calendar (365 day year by it's observation!) with summer. Next search will be on Stellarium and hopefuly show the Egyptian Constellations. Thank you, Michael
