First solar pics, and attempt at mosaic

Hi all,

Tested out my solar filter today and tried to take a few photos, focus was a bit off, and the colour was added later, but im pretty pleased with the result..

tried to stitch a few together into a mosaic, again, its a bit rough, but im pretty chuffed with my first attempt..

Taken using my (toy) Meade 114mm Refractor (only scope i could get a filter for ), Orion Starshoot planetary imager, Baader Solar film filter...

Comments/suggestions welcome..

That's very good picture.

I also took picture using baader film with canon 55-250mm lens and the color is gray? Why is that? Did you change the color?

Hi Davin,

Awesome work mate.
Looks like you're all ready for the coming Transit of Venus.
I saw your thread and thought I'd look at the sun for the first time through my newly acquired 10" Bintel Dob and solar filter.

These were taken through the eyepiece with a Pentax DSLR (untouched images) and they are the first photos I have attempted.
I hope you don't mind me hijacking your thread by posting a couple of photos but I thought it might be better than posting another thread.

Yep, it looks gray through mine too, I added the colour later to try and make it look a bit more sun-like... Hehe I showed some mates and their response was "that's not the sun, it's white" so thought I'd make it more appealing... Hehe

Thanks mate, I'm all set and ready to go, should be great... I was going to try filtering my 12"dob, but Bintel sold out of filters that size, so I got one for one of my 'toy' scopes and hoped for the best. Result was pretty good, and the smaller scope is GOTO also, so makes tracking a bit easier...

Great photos, hope it's nice and clear on the day..
