Saturn May 21st

Imaged Saturn last night in variable seeing, the prediction was very good but again the reality was a lot different. Emil's most excellent AS 2 did well salvaging the best of the data.

I think now with AS 2 there can be significant differences between the average quality of the seeing and the quality of the image produced. Looking forward to getting some good data to run through AS 2.

The range of CMIII for this data is far removed from the dark spot & the far North white spot that may be associated with the previous SED's storm but there is some detail within the old storm remnant and some faint detail showing through in the NEB.

Thanks for looking.
Regards
Trevor

very nice work again Trevor.
was disappointing down this way, with one short window of below average seeing and the rest being really unstable. Agree that Emil's software is impressive. regards ray

Lovely work Trevor. Good to see you getting some reasonable seeing. Totally off the boil here but expected this time of year for QLD. I just need to be even more vigilant than usual now

Thanks very much Ray, it sure has been disappointing over these last few days, regarding the difference between the predicted seeing and what the reality was.

Thanks very much Asi, each day when I check out the GFS charts & wind shear I always take the time to see how looks for Bird, Ray, Paul & you and it does seem that the jet has consistently been a problem up your way recently.

Yes, I do the same Trevor; look at all the other planet imager locations to see if I'm likely to see an image next day. As we have all noted though, the maps are low figure indicators. Believe it or not, my seeing indicator has a lot to do with how powerful the sea swell here is..
