Thanks Al I do push the image scale and would probably get a better pic if I backed it off but find I just don't see the detail albeit slightly off. I have just started using some curves and various filters and this has helped a bit( a slight jump up from Picasa) but I think I'll leave the disc shots to you Paul and Peter.Hopefully we can all get some good shots of the transit.

Wow, I'm surprised at the scale/zoom/resolution you're at there ... it's like I'm not far above the surface of the sun looking across the surface through the prominence.

Pretty amazing proms there Derek, the proms are certainly my favorite Solar feature.

Hi Derek
Great pics
What 'image scale' are you using for the transit?

Woah!
The sun has become MIA here behind freezing black clouds. Nice to get a look at it, thanks for sharing the images.
Is that through the GTSAR-EX? I'm seriously considering switching to one for solar work.

Great shot Derek How cool will it be if Venus egresses or ingresses in front of a large prom on the 6th.

Yes Peter but it has to be the EX1 for better views as it has an occulting function which blacks out the disc for Prom shots but you can then adjust the shutter speed for surface pics.I am used to this camera and use it for many things. The imaging source cameras are very good and they now have several versions all great for Solar work.Apparently the new 618 chip mono version is good on Prominences.
Cheers Derek
