Keyspan Port replicator

Just upgraded the laptop to a new machine with no serial or parallel ports, only USB's
Saw that the Keyspan serial-USB was highly recommended in some of the CCD forums ( for encoders/ GOTO etc) and bought the parallel/ serial port replicator version, but I think I have a problem with the parallel port when used for control of a Modded ToUcam.
On the old machine it worked well, and a dark frame of say 20sec would show up some "hot" pixels, whereas on the new one AstoArt recognises the camera ( or so it says) but after a similar exposure there's NO hot pixels showing!!!!
Anyone using a similar set-up or knows how to check out the parallel port operating webcams????
Any/ all help appreciated

Good news bad news

The Keyspan may be the BEST USB= serial unit but the parallel port **doesn't** work with anything other than a stock standard printer. They have sent an email confirming that you need a PCMCIA parallel card to "talk" to things like camera's etc etc.

Trying to change the Keyspan over!! Can't seem to find a local source, anyone knows!!
