How to make a clear crisp night frustraiting?

well this is dobbing me in - its a read corker.

start up mount - check
start pc's
open and unlock dome
turn on mount
take off main scope cover
sync the dome/mount
slew to acrux, centre and sync
focus main camera - check
then try to get guide scope setup
.......60 min later after reloading software and playing with camera settings

look at cover still on scope

pack up and come back inside

I might add - it just capped off a day very much like that - nothing went right

The real sad thing David, is that I am no innocent in that regard anyway!!! I have left the "white" cap on the 1.25 portion of a 1.25/2" Televue eyepiece and wondered why I could get a focus. In the immortal words of Homer Simpson....Doh!

Last night my imaging run stopped at 1:00am. Woke up to a frozen laptop and 3 subs instead of 20 or so. So after calming down I started shooting flats, then dropped my EL sheet and shattered the glass frame... then I had a coffee... Back at it tonight with a vengeance and possibly a hammer.

The same hoodoo was on my back as well Dave. Shoulda stayed in bed. I was looking forward to a night under the clear crisp skies ..... 9:30 pm... still not a shot successfully taken. Packed it all up and went inside and watched "Paul" instead. At least that was a bright spot in a dismal day.

Some nights are like that. Makes you appreciate the ones that aren't though!
