Vela in Ha

I shot this a year ago with the AP 155, but last night added more exposure time to the original data with my FSQ from Coonabarabran. I like to think this addressed some of the noise probelms I had in the original. Or, it's just simply overcooked.

Hello Rob,

In both instruments an FLI Proline 16803 was used. Astrodon 6nm Ha filter was used in the AP 155 with focal reducer to make it f/5.5. The subs in that telescope were 30 minutes, totalling 5 hours from Riverland Dingo Observatory in South Australia. (I am no longer there and the telescope went back to Dr. Dust -Tom Davis)

The FSQ also employs an FLI Proline 16803, with new 5nm filters, and Atlas focuser. Subs with this telescope are 40 minutes and I was able to add another 120 minutes to the original set, imaged from Coonabarabran. I've used Registar to combine the different focal lengths and to adjust for camera rotation from the completely different systems. Gave me a little extra boost in signal because I love to stretch the "L" out of my signal.

Both telescopes were fitted with small guidescopes for tracking on a Paramount ME. All done remotely from my home in California. I am fully operational now in Coonabarabran thanks to great help from friend Steve Lee.

I am currently at work on some large mosaic tiles in H-alpha on faint RCW targets with the FSQ.

This is a great Ha shot of this area John, it's perhaps the most amazing area of the sky really, so much going on. It's inspred me to go back and rework my version of the area from earlier in the year, thanks, might do a Hubble palette version I think?
