Hi , are you sure the chip is burned out? ,
Try this , as it happened to me a while ago , Pull the hand controller apart ( 4 screws at the back ) and at the top right hand side there is a slot that a ' Micro SD ' card slots into , pop the SD card out and reinsert. it.
They have a habbit of comming loose and the computer wont boot up without it sitting properly in its slot .
Give it a go , it may help ?
Brian.

the display wont display the gps symbol. after a few seconds after turning on it diplays an error that says it cant comunicate with dec motor. if i try to slew with the arrow keys the keypad freezesup. the person ive comunicated with at ioptron, who has only identified as tech3. ran me through a simple diagnostic. and once established the controller only recognises the alt/azu mount as an eq mount. said it was aburnt out chip in the hand control and the hand control needs to be replaced. mike west(opt) sent an email to the tech3 person saying why dont they deal with me directly as it is there faulty hand control. Seems im getting tossed around a bit and ioptron tech3 hasent responded to an email requesting a warrantty replacement ive sent 3 days ago. im lucky i paid with paypal. ive just bought a lesser ioptron controller for $240 from extravision australia. so i will see soon enough if the controller is at fault ioptron list the origional controller for$160 but the only place ive seen withit in aus is extravision and they want like $340 for it or something. not a good experience for my first computerised mount. im not happy and im having a hard time staying civil about it all.

i was contacted again yesterday by ioptron and the help factor went up serveral notches. it was suggested if i am going to return the hand controller i also return the mounts pcb, instructions for removal were include. i have been wanting this mount for some time now so i have gone ahead and ordered a 8403 goto nova 5000 object controller from extravision aus with express postage so when it arrives there will be no doubt if its just a faulty controller. i know it will take a long time for postage and diagnosis and then postage again to get the warranty replacement 8401 130000 object, i dont hold ioptron or opt responsible as they have to follow their proceedures. at least ill have a spare controller then.
in all seriousness the help from ioptron has been very good, i am pleased that they are dealing with me diectly and that is thanks to mike west from opt.
the service from all these people is five star. infact the global community of astronomers and suppliers seem to be above average
when it comes to service

Thats such good news , I knew Ioptron would not leave you in the lurch .
I would love to hear how this pans out for you Clinton , if you dont mind .
Once you get this problem sorted I am sure the mount will perform very well , as mine is a top knotch performer in every way ( after the loose SM card was pushed back in ) .
Oh yea my IEQ45 holds my NG 127triplet easily and I cant be happier with its performance .
Brian.

Ioptron are posting the repaired hc back to me, had a burnt out voltage regulator or something like that. the registered return postge was a good rate. ioptron have been a very good company to deal with and the cube pro mount is operating perfectly, i just wish i could put the 12"dob on it.
