Mars, Saturn Apr12 UT - fair seeing

hi. seeing was very variable as the temperature dropped rapidly, with the occasional detailed frames not spoiled by the high speed flickering from seeing and tube currents. Was able to stack around 15% of frames on Mars. Seeing fell off later as the temp stabilised and early Saturn results were the best, although there are still some seeing and thermal artefacts - not too bad though. It was a beautiful still and very clear night anyway and it was wonderful to be able to see the beauty of the sky, regardless of the imaging conditions.
thanks for looking. regards ray

Excellent Saturn and very nice Mars Ray, have been full on imaging Saturn along with modifying part of my imaging setup and have just not had time to browse the forums.

Very Well Done.
Regards
Trevor

Very nice images Ray.

Saturn is smooth, with very nice Crepe ring. You know it's better than average when you can see the limb of the planet through the C ring.

Very impressive Mars for late in the season. Two volcanoes clearly visible, and possibly a hint of Olympus Mons on the terminator?

Can understand you would be happy with this result.

thanks Trevor - pretty hectic time right now, but very entertaining. hope the mods worked out OK.

thanks Ivan - yes, am happy with results overall - modern technology sure can do a lot in ordinary conditions.

thanks a lot Rob. am going to try imaging from Mawson Lakes tonight - should be interesting seeing conditions.

regards Ray
