First Light - Solar Max 60

Well the SM 60 has had its first light. Mounted it up on the tripod to start with as that is what I will be using for the Transit trip to Mauna Kea in June. Worked like a dream once I figured out the finder.
Best view was with the 13mm Nagler which gives about 31x. Could see the entire disc and a lovely group on sunspots on the left side about a quaret of a diameter in. The entire disc was surronded by prominences that popped in and out of view as I played with the tuner.
Overall very happy, waiting for more sunshine to play a bit more.

Malcolm

PS the little Orion fine adjustment thingey (see http://www.bintel.com.au/Accessories...oductview.aspx ) worked like a beaut. Made it very easy to keep target in view.

Very cool Malcolm! Sounds like an excellent bit of gear that's giving you the goods. I guess there'll be no sleep after your all-nighters now?
