Just a quick update on a very good upgrade for Ving's old wobbletronic...
We (my son actually) just got a new 45 degree diagonal that tranformed the scope from .965 inch eyepieces to 1.25 inch...
Unfortunately clouds (and an 8 year old's bedtime) have prevented us from getting it out for a night time first light but we did have it out during the day late this afternoon...
The new diagonal coupled with some GSO plossls (25 mm, 15 mm, and 9 mm) work great and we were able to read road signs and car rego plates from a good distance.
My son was able to demonstrate competence in putting in the diagonal, eyepieces and finding the specified target. He (and I) were pleased with the outing (although brief) and he is ready to take it to SPSP...I am not quite so ready but I am sure that it will be an "experience" (positive no doubt) for us both...
