dithering with APT/PHD

Last time I tried to dither in PHD with APT in got stuck on one frame for some reason. Can anyone give me some advice on good settings to set the dither function in APT/PHD as I want to try it again tonight?
With 80mm refractor/dslr/prob 200-300 sec lights/400iso-
I didn't do it last night so if I dithered tonight would DSS still stack all of last night and tonight's frames together?

Hi Graz,

The important parameters are: Stability and Timeout. If you set too low settle distance is quite possible PHD not to manage to put the guiding star close enough to consider the dithering as completed. Also problems with DEC guiding can ruin dithering...

Timeout is a way to ignore a problem in the current dithering operation. I think 180-240 is more than enough, if the distance is not good enough in 2-3 min it will never become, no matter how long you wait.
