Turbulent Blue Lagoon

Recovered some more forgotten data.

Didn't have too many subs to play with here, hence the noise level could be better.

I've very much like to re-visit this perennial favourite with a 16803 chip

Looks nice. I like the subtle transparent type look. Narrowband is often too much in your face.

Greg.

Thanks Greg. I've really only started to understand the subtle processing steps with NB, much is dealers choice, but so far I like the more subdued look.

The SII data shows many interesting edges... more the pity the KAF11000 I used then was/is somewhat blind in that part of the spectrum.

Yes that's a good NB lagoon. I like the restrained treatment you have given it. Certainly would benefit from more data though.

Cheers

I think we'd all like to use a large camera but
how many people could hang 4.6 Kgs off their focuser?

http://panther-observatory.com/Review_STX16803.htm

Still - a great photo & I look forward to seeing what
can be done with a larger camera.

.....
I have had no significant problems with my 14" RCOS, as focusing is acheived through the secondary.....but yes, the STX is a *big* camera!

BTW while my "underwater housing" quip was a joke.... It has been raining for months here! ... with many NSW towns now flooded...and literally underwater!

Thanks, I'm quite surprised by the number of views & positive feedback this one has attracted.

There was only 30 minutes of data in each SII:Ha:OIII channel.... not optimal, particularly with SII !

Without doubt I'll re-image it with the STX an my soon to be delivered 12" Riccardi Honders

Lucky bugger. Did you pull some strings to get the AP Honders?

That should be really something.

Greg.

Its a lot cheaper though than the Stellare Officina equivalent. Almost half. Lucky the exchange rate is so good.

I put my name on the RHA list a few days after it opened so hopefully not too far off.

Greg.

Good luck with it. I understand some more may leave AP's doors late 2012
