Orion Expanse or Celestron X-Cel LX

Looking at two eyepieces around the $60-$80.

From the available resources of online Australian stores and eBay I have narrowed it down to two eyepieces.

Orion Expanse 9mm
http://www.bintel.com.au/Eyepieces-a...oductview.aspx

Celestron X-Cel LX
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/230737112...#ht_1980wt_905

Which one should I go for?

Would like a large top lens, will be doing some afocal astrophotography and 9mm.

Thanks!

The expanse gets reasonable reviews on CN, apparently the 9 is the pick of the bunch (it's also called owl enhances, skywatcher LER), havnt heard much about the xcel line

It seems the xcel is from the same stable as the Ed series2/Orion epic, the one I had was nothing to rave about, you might also look at astrotech paradigm

I am pretty sure the Orion is the same as the kit from MAS that i have. http://myastroshop.com.au/products/d...sp?id=MAS-004T
Quite sharp and good AFVO, not as sharpe or contrasty as my Vixens, but value for money.
If you want to borrow them to try them out just pm me.

AFAIK the Celestron eyepiece is the same as the Meade HD-60 which gets good reviews on cloudynights; the Celestron is likely the better performing series of eyepieces.

As said , there is nothing much between them , but if I had to chose one it would be the Orion , only becauce you would be supporting Bintel an aussie company , not some over seas outfit.
Bintel also have a good after sales service ..just in case .
Brian.

I have both and either one should give you good performance. My 9mm Expanse is my all-time favorite and the wear shows it. I agree with Brian about dealing with your country's vendors, especially if they have very good service.
