Mars, Jan 19

Hi all, here is a Mars image from this morning, under not-great (but not-awful) seeing. This is an IR image only, taken with an Astronomik pro-planet 742 filter.

50fps for 2 minutes, image resampled during processing.

cheers, Bird

and here's the best RGB that I could make from the night, the seeing was not good so the image is quite blurry.

cheers, Bird

Still great to see Mars, Anthony. It must be nice to be so high in the sky compared to previous years.

Thanks Mike, and coming to opposition in early March, traditionally a time for good seeing around here, but La Nina has made that very unpredictable!

cheers, Bird

Not bad Anthony. It still looks pretty low to me, but certainly time to get out my gear and get some data on Mars and Saturn.

It is nice to see the Pole still covered in ice.
