Thumbs up A public thank you to Martin

This is just a public thank you to a fellow IIS member Mill (Martin).
My D70s blow a fuse in late Nov when I mounted an older nikkor lens on the body without stepping down the aperture ring and locking it. Martin offered to help me fix it.
Cut a long story short, I got the fuses from the US (size of half a grain of rice each ) and dropped my camera off to him before Xmas. He PMed me after New Year saying it's all fixed. Picked it up this morning, all good
Looking at modding the camera at a later stage, as I am in the process of upgrading my DSLR.
I am very grateful for Martin's kindness and glad to have met him through IIS and Snake Valley Camp!
Bo

Yes Bo, I agree. Martin is fantastic.

Last year one of the club computers was playing up and Martin came all the way up to Snake Valley to pick it up! (3 hours drive for him).

Then when he fixed it he drove all the way to Bacchus Marsh (a good half-way meeting point) to drop it off to me while he was on his way to another Job in Melbourne!!

That scene is burnt into our collective memory Eric! Utterly fearless, going places where mere mortals dare not tread, oblivious to the heart attacks and weeping of grown men going on in the room around him. And yes, number one good guy!

Cheers -

Yes, Marty may have some slightly unorthodox modification techniques but he gets the job done and a top bloke!

Onya Martin!

Cheers Daniel.

I remember it well

Here is the story for those folk who have no idea what we are talking about;

Scene: Snake Valley camp
Location: The Kitchen work bench running through the centre of the kitchen
Project: Martin decided to remove the factory filter from his DSLR
Situation: About 8 people watching on as Martin opens up his camera
Tools/Implements: Kitchen Knife and other assorted Cutlery!
Process: Martin using Knives, Forks, Spoons and any other cooking or eating utensil he can get his hands on to remove said filter from DSLR
Outcome: Filter removed, 3 people vomiting from shock, 2 people fainted, 2 people mentally scarred for life, and 1 person committed to a Psychiatric Ward.

This is a true story, that's what is so scary!

Result: Filter out and Camera is fine
That's our Marty

From memory his wifes Pentax DSLR and some very very red images of M42. It will go down in the history of Snake Valley. Makes James Bond look like sedentary old man.

I wonder what he can do with a Swiss army knife? McGuyver looks like a boy scout next to Martin, judging by Ken's account.
