Laptop monitor issue

I have just purchased a Toshiba 64 bit i7 laptop and cannot get it to recognize my Acer 27 inch monitor (hdmi connection). It works fine with my 24 inch Acer monitor. I have installed the Acer 64 bit drivers but still no signal shows on the Acer 27. I have tried 2 different HDMI cables. Tried connecting as a projector. Tried Function F5 and extending a display but nothing.
The Acer 27 works fine on our other laptop ani5 Toshiba 32 bit.
Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks for going to the trouble Warren,
That is very handy information.
Found a bad connection on 2 hdmi leads to be the culprit.
