The wonderful M42 in Orion

More shots with the video camera on the tripod again last night. Video camera is a Sony TRV320 with slow shutter mode on and set to 1/3 second exposure time, steady shot turned off and focus set to infinity, zoom on max (25 x).

This time I stacked 1000 frames of M42 in Registax. After playing around with the wavelets it was only looking marginally better than yesterdays effort (see 'M42 and the moon' thread). Then I thought I would play around with the histogram settings to see what would happen. After much stretching, tweaking, scrunching and clicking of any setting that could be changed, holy smoking nebula in Orion batman, out popped this little bewdy!!!!

I think you've done pretty well to get that from just a video camera and a tripod. Well done.

Thanks. I must admit I was surprised that the camera was able to get as good an image as it did. Although I think Registax had a lot to with that. Good ol' Registax, where would we be without it ....
